2008 World Series of Birding.....My Backyard Big Sit
|
| This year, for the World Series of Birding, I was unable to join my usual team, the Century Run, because of health reasons so I thought I would do a Big Sit on our back deck. My team name was "The Villas Catbird Seat". Because of the location here in Villas, NJ, I have a much better shot at a good total if there is bird movement the night before as I am too far from the bay for seabirds and shorebirds. Well, there was NOT a flight the night before so I had a poor showing with a total of 38 species. I was trying for at least 50 and in fact, 6 days before, I was able to get 52 species on a practice run. Despite the low number, I had fun and was able to stay dry during the rain by coming inside and watching out the window!!! Next year I hope to return to my old team. Below you will find a few photos from the day. |
